What you will do

Working on the interface between infrastructure, applications and data, you'll play a key role in delivering a robust platform that is efficient, highly reliable and available 24/7. The platform is the foundation for a variety of applications and solutions based around Big Data and Data Science used by Swisscom and our customers.

You'll be designing, implementing and operating this Big Data infrastructure platform to allow management of petabytes of data. Using our DevOps approach, you will enhance the tooling of the platform to facilitate the work of the Big Data developers working on the applications. You will handle the Linux systems using Shell, Python, Ansible and develop the platform, mainly using Java. But as we're in a Big Data environment, you'll also work with languages such as Scala or Clojure and technologies like Hadoop and Kafka. With your expertise, you'll improve both reliability and availability of this 24/7 platform. By doing this, you'll also promote DevOps best practices and agile methodologies.

Your background

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or similar educational level
  • Experience in DevOps Engineering with proven skills in Java, Shell, Python 
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system and familiar with systems management tools (we use Ansible)
  • Experience with Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Kafka, Scala, Clojure) 
  • Additional experience in IP Networking, Golang, Docker and Kubernetes is highly desirable
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Metabase, Re:dash, Superset, Tableau and/or JavaScript libraries such as D3.js, Raphael.js would be a bonus
  • Team player and self-starter with a positive attitude and a love for DevOps and agile methodology
  • Fluent English, French or German is an asset
