What you achieve

Swisscom mobile network into unprecedented insights about collective mobility of the country. The combination of the sheer amount of data – several millions of data points per second – with the high market share of Swisscom makes it possible to create comprehensive and anonymized statistics about mobility in Switzerland.

You make this possible by implementing data processing pipelines to collect, clean up and explore the data. Applying statistics and machine learning algorithms on structured and unstructured data is part of your routine, as well as managing production services with a focus on backend systems. Taking initiative is your strength, and you use it to collaborate with business stakeholders to elaborate requirements or identify new use cases.

Why you succeed

  • Master's degree or PhD (ETH/Uni/UAS) in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent qualification
  • Track record of successfully building and maintaining data pipelines using Big Data technology (Hadoop, Spark, Elastic)
  • Strong software engineering skills, familiarity with development in Scala and Python
  • Experience in data discovery tasks and knowledge of machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn and SparkML), applied to large and diverse data sets
  • Enthusiastic and flexible self-starter with a desire to learn
  • Very good English, German or French a plus
